Architectural Photography

Architectural photography is a difficult genre to master because it requires the photographer to understand and use different techniques. The architectural photographer needs to be able to see the beauty in a building. The photographer should be able to find the best angle, perspective and framing for a building while capturing its details. However, this requires a lot of practice and knowledge of different techniques.

In this article, we will look at some tips and tricks for taking architectural photographs in order to get better results.

1. One of the keys to getting good architectural photographs is to use different perspectives and angles. You can find different perspectives on almost every building, and you can also use your imagination to find new angles. Try taking photographs from the perspective of an insect or bird flying above the building, and you will see that you can capture a whole new view of it.

2. Take close up shots of the structure, lines and shapes to capture details. Look out for interesting details on buildings and use them to your advantage. This can be a small detail like a door handle or even a window that has a unique shape.

3. Include the surrounding environment in your photographs to get a better sense of the building.

4. Look out for buildings that are different than the ones you are used to see. For example, an old building in a modern enviroment, or a small kiosk next to a tall building.

5. Use a Tripod and take long-exposure photos to blur the moving elements like cars or people.

6. Use the architecture to create leading lines, symmetry, or a frame inside the photograph.

7. Try to shoot the same building at different times of the day, to see how diffrent light will affect the building. Sometimes a boring looking building can look more interesting at night or in the morning.

8. Finally, you also need to use different lenses. The type of lens you use will determine the depth of field and frame in your photograph. Some photographers prefer to use wide angle lenses to capture more of the environment, while other photographers work with a telephoto lens to capture small details. It is up to you what kind of photography you want to do.
